I submitted a prescription to Walgreens, knowing it needed the doctor to refill it, as it had run out. They indicated it would be submitted. I followed up and on line got an email from Walgreens on Esperanza) that it was ready for pick up. I went in and was told they have no record of my ever submitting it (even though I resubmitted it again today). The Pharmacy tech/clerk said they can't fill the prescription because it ran out. I explained very carefully that I had submitted it over 3 weeks ago and again today along withe email they sent me that it was ready for pick up. She kept repeating they can't fill it because there were no more refills. I called my doctor's office and they said they got it today. I asked my doctor to try and switch it to the other Walgreens on Continental. I ran out of this prescription a week ago.

As a loyal customer of over a decade it's disappointing that my spouse and I now feel as though we are an inconvenience to a certain cashier. We have never been rude, intolerant or inappropriate yet certain staff members feel they can treat customers as an inconvenience.

(UPDATE) Called for fill, was told will take additional 2 days as they are out of stock on that specific medication (shocker). This store is a joke and their hours are as well. Save yourself the time and fill in Tucson, the drive is long, but at least you’ll get your medication the day you request the refill.

I am not retired, nor am I even close to retirement, however this pharmacy absolutely cannot keep any stock of the only medication I need, and consistently is “Out of stock” each month when I refill. This causes a delay sometimes of up to 5 days, stretching over weekends and holidays which is not acceptable. While I understand the local traffic is high during our peak months, I have a hard time believing that there are that many retirees on a dopamatic antagonist medication. I appreciate the staff and pharmacist, as they are just employed here, and have always been helpful and friendly but whomever is in charge of medication stock and consistency of recurring refills needs help.

Unfortunately, my prescribing physician’s office cannot locate the one on Duval Mine Rd, so I am forced to fill here, and wait for my medication while it is “on order” spanning 6 days from request to fill.

TL;DR
If you aren’t 78 years old, or actively retired, your prescriptions will LITERALLY never be filled on time, regardless of using the Walgreens app or calling in, and the medication I am prescribed is out of stock Every. Single. Month. Not acceptable, in any fashion.

I found out that many residents in Green Valley no longer drive. They walk to Walgreens for groceries. I looked around and the store has a nice variety of products. The staff are always friendly. I like coming here.

[UPDATE: DR KATHY STONE, the pharmacist referenced below, was let go by the corporation for presumably being too close to her patients. It took a while for the store to get a permanent replacement. The new pharmacist is great but I was very distressed to see the way Dr. Stone was treated. Loss of a star due to overall corporate malfeasance.]

[Second update: the replacement pharmacist I mentioned above was replaced again for some reason. She had learned my name, conditions and medications within 2 visits. The current pharmacist has no clue as to my last name and can’t remember that it begins with a “C” and not an “S.” She’s not invested in the community.]

This is a small, neighborhood Walgreen's pharmacy. It's woefully understaffed, especially during the winter season, but that is NOT the fault of the staff or managers. It is the fault of corporate offices. The Pharmacy Manager, Dr. Kathy Stone, is amazing. She's brilliant, takes the time necessary to speak to each client and has the patience of a saint. The Pharm techs work extremely hard, are very professional and efficient.

Doctors have inadvertently prescribed medications which would be dangerous for me. Dr. Stone always catches those mistakes before filling a bad script. In those cases or even if she has specific questions about a script, she personally calls my doctors to clarify their intentions.

Yes, sometimes the lines can be a bit long from October through April when the area is swarming with winter visitors. Often, these visitors complain about their wait time and accuse the staff of incompetence. If the pharmacist is one of the people at the register checking people out or answering questions she can't possibly be filling prescriptions.

Some come directly from their doctor assuming it to have been sent and ready for pick up the moment they arrive. My suggestion is to call ahead, check to see if they have received the prescription and inquire as to the length of time it will take to fill or call the automated number to check its status. Better yet, sign up for text messages (almost all snowbirds have cell phones) which notifies when a prescription is ready.

A previous reviewer moaned about the closed "drop off" window. I've used this pharmacy for over a decade and have never known for that window to be used.

There are other pharmacy choices in Green Valley/Sahuarita: a CVS, Safeway, two large Walgreen's and Fry's. For personal service keep coming here. If you're the impatient type, go elsewhere. For goodness sake, you're retired. What's the hurry?

I had a horrible experience at this pharmacy today! I don't like their process for drop off and pick up. .. They make you wait in a line to drop off your prescription because the drop off window is never open. Then they make you wait in the same long line to pick up your prescription...even if you waited there. Well today I waited 30 minutes then was told they didn't have my script on hand and that i could go to another Walgreens. I asked if they could send the script over so i could pick it up and they refused at first then pushed me to the back of a third line of flu shot customers. They were so ride that it made me never want to return to that pharmacy. Luckily i know that there's another pharmacist who is usually there who is much more professional and whose staff is more professional as well.
