Claude invited me in and was an outstanding host! He’s also a wonderful story teller. Ask him about the origins of Meeker and also ask him about his relatives that owned a sawmill here. You’re going to be amazed at the history. I liked it so much I’m planning on returning to visit the museum again and go to the battle site. Wonderful people!

Incredible history held all in a few building!! Many families have come and gone, many have made names for themselves and many have created legacies for their families for years to come. Missing out on some of the things you may have grown up with or got to play with, hunt with, style har with and beyond anything you could imagine in these buildings! I myself enjoy it every time I go because I find something I hadn't previously seen. I have lived here in meeker for 23 years and been there 2-3x a year and still never had a bad time!!! Super place to get a unique gift in their giftshop as well!

Thoroughly enjoyed my visit! Terri was very informative, knowledgeable, and personable. You can tell she loves the museum and her role! One of the days I stopped by she was actually working outside on some windows getting her hands dirty and getting stuff done! Wishing more people were as dedicated! Others mentioned this: DO NOT LET THE FRONT SIZE OF THIS PLACE FOOL YOU! It is huge with lots of memorabilia to explore and enjoy! Check out the second building too.

This museum was amazing! One of the best me and my wife have ever been to. If you enjoy stories about the old Wild West and want to see everything from Native American artifacts to old cars from the 1940s or 50s this is the place to go. Their displays were so impeccable and informative. So we'll taken care of. It's a must go for western Colorado. The lady working there was so friendly and informative. Me and my wife will definitely go back again one day!

Fantastic museum for folks who love the museums "of old." So much to read, examine, and learn! Museum collections are housed in two original military buildings built in 1879-80. Spoke at length with Claude, the visitor services clerk, who was an excellent guide! I would highly recommend paying a visit to the White River Museum and allow yourself 1-2 hours. Well worth your time!

Huge collection of local and regional curios and artifacts. Many displays explaining the Indigenous and white settlers history. The Director is friendly, with deep family roots and lots of added knowledge. I especially enjoyed the mini stories posted alongside some of the displays, as they were entertaining.

I visited the museum to try to see whether an ancestor of mine had actually lived in Meeker (as our improbable family legend had it). The museum is much bigger than it looks from the outside, has a fascinating (but, as someone else says, chaotically-organized…) collection of everything from photos to stage coaches to barbed wire to dolls to furniture from Meeker's past, and the curator I met went beyond the call of duty to research my ancestor (yes, he did live there, a long time ago). Worth a visit if you're curious about how people lived around here back then.
