Tried this place about 15 yea ago. Everybody said you need to try the cinnamon rolls, I did and they were average. Had no desire to return, Drove by today and thought, let's see if it's how I remembered. Yep. Still average. Needed more cinnamon and frosting. They're better than Johnsons corners cinnamon rolls, but that's not saying much, since theirs are garbage. Mayhe people in Northern Colorado like average rolls. Looks like a fun place to hang out though. Maybe the other food is better. I may give it a shot with their dinners, since the pics look good. Cash register lady was nice. Had to wait a bit for her to also sit someone to a table though.

there's a reason this place has been open since 1950 forget about it, and it's because they have consistently had unpretentious good food. the cinnamon rolls have always been worth it, and we've been coming here since it was actually 287 here. and we will continue. even if you live in Fort collins, it's worth the drive out to laporte.

Recently joined a friend for breakfast at Vern’s. Breakfast was great, food wonderful except…ordered to go cinnamon rolls.

Not the same! Used to be big and fluffy and very tasty. Apparently recipe has been changed. Not the same, disappointed.

We had not visited there for a while. We chose our favorite kraut burger and cinnamon roll. Both of our kraut burgers were flat and wet on the bottom. They used to be puffy stuffed rolls. They were known for their fries as well and used to be our favorite. We were disappointed in the quality of them. Many were short floaters that were in the oil too long. Service was great as usual. Drinks never went dry. Cinnamon rolls were kind of dry but warm and still good.

Well, this place was good a few years ago but not sure about now. New cooks and owners I think. Definitely new cooks I know that for sure. My mom and I ate here after a drive in the mountains so we were hungry. She got the salmon dinner and I got the fried chicken dinner. Probably the worst fried chicken I've ever had. KFC would've been a better choice... Firstly, my dish was supposed to come with mashed potatoes but they give me corn instead... and that gravy didnt really have a typical flavor its hard to describe but ive never tasted anything like it. It made it slightly more pallettable to eat the chicken with but i hardly touched it overall. Just had a weird flavor. But they give me gravy but no mashed potatoes... I didn't understand that.
The chicken was cooked in old oil. No flavor otherwise. Bland and boring. At least the onion rings tasted like onion rings. I asked if my mom's food was good and she said yes but it wasn't that great. Didn't look good because the sauce looked like it was just drizzled on top instead of be cooked in it. It being put on top of the salmon like that looked weird and cheap to me.
Aside from the food, there was a table of teenagers next to us and one of them thought they were funny cussing and being loud every sentence they spoke...
Never coming back until there's new management and new cooks. Really disappointed how they screw up such easy dishes.

Vern’s Place is a very quaint and peaceful place to eat some delicious homemade food. Everything tastes like it’s right from mom’s kitchen. Best burger I’ve had in a very long time. Large beef patties, green leaf lettuce, and REAL pickles! Big ones! 🤤 The fries and onion rings are spot on. The ranch dressing was a little thin, but still tasty. The waitresses are very sweet and genuine. It was the perfect place to take in the view after a drive in the mountains.

Nostalgic for me, as some of my first memories are of camping and fishing in Poudre valley with my extended family, frequently stopping by Vern's place for cinnamon rolls and more. Long ago we moved away, but I visited 6 years ago with family and was so happy that they're still around and making great food! Definitely on my "repeat bucket list" 🙂
