Have you ever wanted to share your love for books with everyone else? Did you ever want to give others the chance to bask in an environment full of rare antique books to present day stories? Well two college students did and now we have Treehorn Books.

This is a cozy and warm second hand bookstore located in downtown Santa Rosa. There are many special books, ones that you can’t find in modern day bookstores. That's why I say this is one of the best for book lovers. They specialize in carrying out of print, collectible, and signed books. They have stools and ladders so you can reach the highest of shelves which is something I loved and found charming.

I did notice that it’s a little hard for the booksellers to navigate which book is where. I observed a couple of customers asking for specific books and they didn’t do much other than point the general direction. It doesn’t seem like they have a computer system.

Overall this is a very likable bookstore. There's just something amazing about a place that smells vintage if you know what I mean.

My Sonoma County people, if you want a blast from the past book adventure I recommend coming here!

I just left a used bookstore in Novato where uses books ran .50 - $3.00 a book. I was in absolute STICKER SHOCK walking into Treehorn.
JIMMENIES!
$9-$20 (or more) for used book was just madness.
Let first say, the staff was very helpful, energized and willing to help. I really liked them. The store is jam packed. Claustrophobic like. Plenty of inventory to choose from. You can easily get lost in there for hours. But don't forget to feed that hungry parking meter because you're in downtown Santa Rosa.
I walked out with 1 children's book for a whopping $7 + tax. There was absolutely no way I was spending $15-$20 on a cookbook where I literally just got 5 used cookbooks for $13 in Novato at the other used book store @ $2-$3/ea with no sales tax.
No need to return here.

Stunning used bookstore with a wide selection and incredible vibes. I think organization is a bit all over the place but thats common in small bookstores. Staff was friendly and nice but seemed a little overwhelmed with only one or two people caring for the stores entirety. If i was local id spend alot of time here.

Since 1979, Treehorn Books has been selling used, collectible, and rare books from their massive inventory. It's a joy being around all these books. I purchased two Shakespeare plays today to replace copies of mine that were damaged. Will be back again soon.

I called looking for books on dinosaurs for my 47 year old brother. The gentleman answering the phone asked me a few questions and said he’d have a pile of books waiting for me. There was a nicely curated selection on the front table when I came in. Excellent service, satisfying selection, fair prices, free parking. Strong 5 stars.

An absolute gem of a bookstore! Locally owned with a mix of used and new books at absolutely amazing prices. Most of their books are in fantastic condition and their collection is really big. That being said, some of the nonfiction sections are stuffed with books; it can be a little hard to find a particular title you might need. But if you're looking to get lost among the shelves and buy more books than you thought you needed, this is the spot for you! Also a great location in the heart of downtown.

We stopped in to look for used puzzles which we found an incredible selection of. I wish we lived closer because we would go all the time. Anyway they have tons and tons of books and even a great kids selection. This is a far more affordable place than other retail bookstores that may be near by.
