Debra Mayeux, reporter for the journal, is on social media trying to get legally shared copywrite information taken down out of pure ignorance. There is a pay wall on the site so citizens are sharing screenshot of the article to get the information out there to the people (where it belongs). Doing that is 100% legal and protected under the fair use act. It wouldn't be so bad, but this is a news outlet with reporters who attempt to break amended copywrite laws protected under the freedom of speech. Not a good look.

Unfortunately, at least in the minds of the Cortezians I have spoken with, the recent purchase of The Journal created a disconnect with the locals. It is felt that the new management doesn't articulate the spirit of the Cortez region or the content that the denizens of the region want to see. Job postings are not listed in the classifieds and many people have canceled their subscriptions...
