Another amazing stay at The Cliff House. From arrival, greeted by Sean who unloaded our luggage and brought it to our room. To check-in by Julie who was so welcoming and helpful. To Bradley, the Dining Room manager who so kindly accommodated our needs and gave us a wonderful dining experience. Waiter Jeff and the bonus of being accompanied by exceptional classical guitarist, whose name I unfortunately can't remember. And at check-out, there was Sean again to help us with our luggage and car. |I am mentioning these people personally because they all added to an exceptional experience. Our first visit was exactly 2 years ago this month and we have vowed to not wait that long for our next visit.|The rooms are sparkling clean, well appointed (how can I live without the heated toilet seat and bathroom heater?) Bed and pillows so comfy. Quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Everyone eager to meet our every need. |Can't wait to come back!

My husband booked an all inclusive stay as a surprise for our anniversary. The hotel was charming and the room was inviting with a rose on the bed, chocolates and a bottle of wine. We made reservations for an 8 o'clock dinner, at the suggestion of the hostess. We perused the menu before our reservation and had our hearts set on the bison ribeye. When we sat down for dinner, it was not available. We settled for the prime rib special, but they were out of baked potatoes, so they substituted with mashed potatoes. After dinner, we decided to take advantage of our jetted tub for two. We had to call the front desk to get the hot water to come on, as the faucet handle spun all the way around. The button that operated the jets was finicky and when it finally came on, only three jets worked. The next morning we went down for breakfast and they were out of almost everything, including clean plates and full size glasses. We had to ask for coffee, creamer, orange juice and water. No one ever returned to refill my orange juice that I asked for. They had a pan full of gravy, no biscuits and the potatoes were overcooked. We've had better continental breakfast at 2 star hotels. Their sausage links were awesome though! While checking out, we overheard another couple complaining about their fireplace not working. It seems like they don't have a problem substituting everything, but the cost. Needless to say, we left disappointed with our stay.

Such a fun place. Room absolutely gorgeous. Food in restaurant for dinner was delicious w great waiter. The only issue was with our breakfast in the morning taking too long to arrive. The attendants in the lobby and the receptionists were warm, welcoming and made us feel like royalty!

The Cliff House is a lovely historic hotel nestled in the tourist section of Manitou Springs, Colorado. We were stopping in Manitou to tackle the Manitou Incline, so our two night stay was perfect! The wonderful staff were all welcoming, friendly, and attentive. Our Deluxe King Suite was very comfortable. The fireplace made the room very cozy on cold mornings & chilly evenings. We also appreciated two comfortable chairs in the room so that we didn't have to sit on the bed while spending time in the room. The period furnishings are so appealing, but some are definitely showing signs of wear (Room #215). We also had a pleasant, relaxing dinner in the Cliff House Restaurant. Thanks for a lovely stay in Manitou Springs!

Positive: Fireplace in my room. Really nice amenity. The refrigerator had a small freezer which i need for medication. Most hotels these days have a refrigerator but very few actually have a freezer. Negative: They required a $20/day valet even though it was off season and it was literally a ghost town. Parking was available and they didn't advertise this fee so it felt like a cash grab.

This is a really nice and classy hotel. They make sure everything is first class. All the employees are very helpful and courteous. I had a chance to stay in the Woolworth suite and it was excellent. Lots of space to stretch out and relax after a long day of travel

I stayed at this hotel as part of a block for my best friend’s wedding, and while the location was nice and the hotel itself was quite pretty, the overall experience left a lot to be desired. There were some serious issues that affected our stay.

The room keys were a constant problem—not just for me, but for many of our friends. We had to repeatedly get them reactivated, which was incredibly inconvenient, and they ultimately had to give us a real key. Communication from the staff was also lacking; they seemed poorly informed on how to direct people to the lunch and how to serve it. When I provided feedback, the person I spoke with seemed cagey and reluctant to address the issues until I expressed my frustration.

The valet staff were courteous, but I once waited quite a while because they misplaced my ticket. Additionally, the valet parking process was often unclear and confusing. The beds were also quite stiff, which didn’t make for the most comfortable nights, although the fireplace was a nice touch in the room.

There was a particularly frustrating situation when I requested six clean glasses for my friend’s wedding night, and the front desk staff reluctantly agreed to send up four. When I assumed it was a misunderstanding and followed up in person, the employee acted as if my request was the most annoying thing they had to deal with. There was a lot of sighing, barely any eye contact, and silence. This was a strange and unprofessional response.

The rooms were dusty, especially the bathroom, which made me question the overall cleanliness of the space. I understand every single square inch won't be wiped down, but the toilet paper holder was dusty, which should be wiped down as it’s closest to the toilet. On the positive side, the hallway staff were friendly and thanked us for staying, and I was accommodated with a room closer to the bride and groom upon request. Additionally, they were quick to retrieve my phone when I accidentally left it in my car when I had to park it myself and wasn't sure where I had left my phone.

My friend, the bride, also experienced disappointing service. She shared, “The service was wildly bad. We left the room late on Sunday for the wedding, around 1-something, and they just didn’t pick up the room.” Given the circumstances, this lack of attention to their suite on the day of the wedding was lacking. They kindly upgraded the suite because they knew it was their wedding, so they knew.

Despite these few shining moments, the overall service was disappointing. Given the problems we experienced with communication, cleanliness, and key cards, I would never recommend booking a block here for a wedding or holding large group events like lunches or brunches. The location and aesthetic were nice, but the service simply did not match up. We were excited to stay here and incredibly let down.

Oh! I don't know how I forgot to ask this but there were so many bugs. Of course its an old historic hotel, but lots of bugs inside.
