I went to see The Prom at Arts Hub back in 2024, and I was delighted to see such a fantastic and inclusive community theater production! Especially with the recent closures of many performance spaces in Boulder County, this is a true gem. Plus, they sometimes have live music concerts, like Hazel Miller, who absolutely rules live!!

What a creative and well-run place! It is so wonderful to have this community resource right close to home. My daughter's love of ballet has only grown with the beautifully costumed and staged recitals right at the Arts HUB (no jittery nerves and overblown coordination to perform in a space different than daily classes). Both my daughter (6yrs) and son (3.5 yrs) have also thrived from the arts classes offered here for summer camps. I feel so comfortable and supported when bringing my children here to grow their creative possibilities.

Many families, including mine, reported misconduct a couple years ago. The theatre retaliated by spreading lies about those who spoke up and denying all accountability. So many of us wont consider going back until there’s new staff and Board members.

I was here to see Rent earlier in the year and it was excellent, and came back when it was being used as an Artist's Lounge for Lafayette Music Fest, and *that* was well done too! Great space.

Yet another show debuts tonight, funded by donors, where the Director precast the main roles (her kids, kid’s girlfriend, and their same group of friends). Music Director job and funds also went to her kid…again. It’s not worth your time to audition there anymore. My buddy was called back for a recent show with one other contender…her same kid that got this show’s lead. Want to guess if my buddy got the part? It’s better when they bring in other Directors, but still sketchy at this theatre. At least then there’s a chance to EARN a role.

Misconduct has plagued this place. If you speak up, you'll be retaliated against and slandered in the community. Their Board and staff buried many complaints while I was there and chased out some very good people.

Community theatre makes the art possible for everyone. It has been a big part of our lives, and we've seen many different productions in many different cities - academic, community, regional, and Broadway! The Arts Hub is the best community theatre we have experienced! Professional, quality productions by extremely talented and dedicated performers who love what they do. While the performance side is our experience with The Arts Hub, it's impressive and important that they offer a wide range of artistic avenues so that everyone has a chance to pursue and/or experience the culture that arts bring to our lives. By the way, if you didn't see Sweeney Todd at The Arts Hub, you missed a stellar performance! Don't miss the next opportunity to see quality community productions!

I really don't like giving bad reviews. The theater itself is wonderful. Love the concept. My daughter did the vocal techniques class when she was 6. She has always been interested in performing. During the course of the class semester, she was harassed by older students who called her names and cursed at her. Her teacher resigned suddenly and we were given very little info about it, and apparently "walked out" with the music so they had to switch up what they were going to perform mid session. And then at the performance, my 6 year old was tasked with taking a prop and setting it up herself (a chair to sit in). Her singing was to start almost immediately when the music came on, and the music tech person started playing it when she was still walking out. She wasn't ready or set up, and the music tech person could see that and that she was really upset but didn't think to stop the music and start over. She was SIX! They handled it very poorly and didn't apologize to her or take responsibility for it, so she left thinking it was her fault and she is scared to be on stage now. A simple apology and ownership for what happened could have taken that off her shoulders and given her the boost needed to try again. I was really disappointed in how they handled, and even after providing feedback to them directly, they never reached out to apologize. I expect more from a organization that is trying to build up the arts in our kids. As someone who has extreme stage fright, this experience breaks my heart for my daughter as I didn't want her to have the same fear I've always had.

Edit: There were a number of people that came up to us after the show to check on my daughter - however, no one said to her "this isn't your fault" or took responsibility for it, speaking to her.

Also, the music didn't stop until the next performer came on and was rattled. My daughter tried to compose herself and kept going even though you could hear the tears in her voice, I was proud of her for trying to keep going. The music did not stop immediately like you make it sound, sorry if you do not recall how it happened. Yes, technical difficulties happen, and the show must go on...but when the kid is SIX maybe have some wherewithal to know how to handle these situations, and make sure everyone on the team is on the same page. I have the video if you want to remind yourself.
