Spencers Stationery

Prices are crazy. $30+ for a notepad. Wasn’t for us so decided to leave. Was left with a comment from a lady with long gray-ish hair making a passive aggressive comment, about us not being in the store for a long time/purchasing anything. Something along the lines of ‘oh really, you’re leaving already’ - not the way to do business. Younger girl was sweet and older guy was friendly.

I’ve been shopping at Spencer’s for years! They are the only place for calendars, appointment calendars, napkins, greeting cards, Christmas cards, and gift wrap. Don’t miss a visit to this place

Closed, window shopping and this stationary store has a very nice and higher end selection of cards and other goodies. Two other shoppers were gazing at the same too. ?

Most Excellent stationary shop around! Friendly, respectful & attentive. I don’t know what these negative reviews are all about. The other reviewers got me upset so I decided to do my first review. Beautiful stationary you can’t find in many other stores. Loved the organization and cleanliness of the store too. Wonderful unique carved birds and birdhouses. Other nice gift items. Worth my time to return when I’m on vacation in Montery area. Update: I’ve been back this December & they are still great! Unique quality stationary and they are still friendly :)

Spencers is a wonderful store that has many unique gifts, a large selection of stickers, journals and the BEST malted milk balls on the planet! Of course their stationary related items are fantastic as well. Our family stops in every time we are in the area. The owner and his team are so nice and very helpful.

Why are beautiful stationary stores like Spencer's so rare ? Books, notebooks, calendars, pens, paper, note cards, stickers, photo albums, office supplies........ if I didn't live 2 hours away I would shop here every weekend. I am trying to convince my mother to take the 2 hour drive with me. She would love this place.

My husband and I stopped by Spencers a day before getting married, looking for stationery and cards. We spoke with Kathy, and another wonderful woman, whose name I unfortunately don't remember, and has such a wonderful time doing so. They were both so friendly, helpful, and a pleasure to talk to. Kathy was able to show my husband different papers he was looking for to use as stationery, and she helped my find a good card to write a letter to my parents. We both left there really happy with the service we received, and are looking forward to visiting again. (Visiting from Houston)

I have purchased cards and stationary at Spencers stationary from over ten years. Today was the last time. Every time I go in that store, I have the worst customer service experience. The sales ladies are rude and condescending towards me as I scan the various cards. Today I purchased a card for $4.83. The sales lady informed me that it was a $5 minimum to use a debit card. I told her to just round up to $5. She told me that the owner would not allow that and that I had to make another purchase. I had to spend additional funds on something I didn't need in order purchase the card thanking my girlfriend for her being by my side as I comforted my dying mother because the owner of Spencers Stationary has decided to break his/her credit agreement with the bank by requiring a minimum purchase. If the owner is so concerned with the 2.5% fee the bank charges on these sorts of transactions then he/she should get rid of the system, or raise his/her prices 2.5%. Either way, they have lost my business. There is a great stationary store in Pacific Grove on Lighthouse that will receive my business from now on.
