Small book store that doesn’t seem to have changed much since opening in 1978. They had a good deleted art supplies, books, and small toy section for kids. If you’re looking for a trendy coffee shop book store this isn’t it. However they do have a good selection of books and the staff was helpful.

The customer service is lacking here. I felt as though I was annoying the employee when I asked where I could find bookmarks. As she began to lead the way to their location, two people entered the business, and the employee made an abrupt u-turn, went around my daughter and I in the aisle, and hurried to greet the couple (who obviously were her friends) with excitement. It was so completely rude! She never did show us the bookmarks. I'm still floored to have been treated that way! 🤯

I’ve been coming here for years and I’ve only just begun to dislike coming here. There is an employee who is the most unhelpful I’ve ever experienced and has the most unpleasant attitude. It makes trips to this store less fun and more stressful. It seems that having customers makes her very annoyed and angry. I wish the customer service was better so my family would enjoy this store again!

I walked into Vanderford’s this morning, the clerk did not greet me, or acknowledge me in anyway. (“Hello, can I help you find anything?” Is a basic courtesy imho). I waited at the counter still no acknowledgment when I asked if I could check out she was rude and dismissive and went back to straightening books in the display. Slowly made her way to the front desk where she was curt and unpleasant. Vanderford itself is a lovely bookstore that I’ve been shopping at for decades and I would highly recommend it however I would expect the least as far as customer service goes.

This is a very cool unique little bookstore that’s downtown Sandpoint. It’s been there for a very long time! It has fun stuff! Markers, Gel pens, coloring books, reading materials, greeting cards, cute yearly planners and calanders , etc.
