All of the female staff that work there are rude, they just sit behind they’re desk and don’t greet people they are no help whatsoever and they have attitudes when asking a question. The homeless also goes in there to let the day go by and the female workers treat them awfully. I DONT RECOMMEND THIS LIBRARY, I WOULD RECOMMEND THE LINDSAY LIBRARY they’re very welcoming there and help when looking for books!! The Porterville Library never used to be this way‼️

It's nice, but it's dirty and stinks because of homeless people. I HIGHLY recommend for you to bring Lysol or wipes for chairs and tables if you ever go here. I literally seen a man sitting nude at the computers. Don't just leave your children here either

Great books/materials but it does not look like a library. It is more like a public park. Some people enter there to eat and the tables/premises are dirty and smelly. Some people go there to make personal phone calls disturbing everybody. Fortunately, around Sept 2024 they put one cabin for people using the place for actual lecture/study/work people visiting the library, I hope they create a normal library enviroment/culture in the future. I think kids are having an idea of library as a storage of books full of homeless. They need other facility not a library.

It's a nice, quiet library. Most of the books I wanted weren't there, so I had to request them from other libraries. They did happen to have one of the books I was looking for, and it was easy to find. However, the interior of this library has not been updated in 40 years. It seems so lifeless and dull, and doesn't really inspire me to read. The only parking is parallel parking on the street. They seriously need to get their own parking lot. The people behind the counter act like they really don't want to be there. They don't say much to you when you check out. This place just seems so depressing, I wish it was as inviting as a bookstore, but Porterville doesn't have such a thing.

I have visited the Porterville Library, the location near the dollar store and Grocery Outlet. I brought my boys and I love the atmosphere. I love the organization. I love that the books are marked with AR reading. I love the monthly calendar. I love the activities. I love that I can read the book at the library and I can checkout books with my library card. Most of all, everyone, the staff that I have met, are so nice, friendly and helpful. I understand this location is only temporary, but I will enjoy it in the meantime. Great job everyone! ?

Almost every other time I come in it's noisy. As a student, I come to the library to research and complete work. I purposely sit at the furthest end away from others with my headphones on but the noise follows. I've asked if it is normal for a library to be this loud but was met with sullen tones and looks by the staff aside from them treating you like you're crazy for wanting to get the "library experience" in a library. I do not recommend this location if you are looking for a quiet place to read, study or research. Make the drive to Lindsay or other surrounding real libraries (As a native, I am abundantly aware of this history this town has with its library. I grew up in the old library). As I'm writing this there is a loud group who claim to be here to teach literacy but are talking about loudly about WiFi, movies, etc. There is another community outreach group discussing books, loudly as they themselves have stated. Tuesdays and Saturdays there is a knitting and crochet group that usurp the entire back area, including the area you're using regardless of the fact you're not bothering anyone. Again, I know this is a community area but some of us need the library to be a library.

The temporary library built after two juveniles burned the other one down is very small and addicts and transients are in front of the door making it a dangerous place for children and elderly so many people that enjoyed the old library avoid this version of a Porterville Library.

Very nice staff & environment. We visit every week for kids biligual story time. They have fun kids reading programs, holiday events, and community resources. Stop by at the front desks to get a calendar or flyers for events. Great activities for family and community. Great space for the little ones. All positive for me!
