Great little record store with a good collection of vinyl on offer. Mostly newer repressings but actually surprisingly great prices on sealed albums.

Wow. I don't even know where to begin. I've been coming to this store for about 4 years at this point, especially for Record Store Day. I haven't had any issues before but this year was a hot MESS. I called about a week ago to inquire about an RSD release. I asked if they had the Chappell Roan 7 Inch. The man on the phone told me they only had one but that it had already been reserved for a customer. I was a bit confused but I said thank you and hung up. I knew something was wrong but it wasn't until today that I figured out what that was. I realized that's against the RSD rules. I'll include a picture from the official website with the relevant info highlighted. So again, that is against the rules set by Record Store Day themselves. I decided to check their online catalogue and see if I could find more information. I did, and it was very interesting. I searched "Chappell" to see what would show up. A listing for the record came up and I noticed that the listing include the name Rex in parentheses at the bottom. It was the same situation for the Sabrina Carpenter release, they had one but it had been "reserved for a customer". I searched "Sabrina" to see what would pop up and once again the name Rex appeared in parentheses in the listing. So i'm guessing this is the customer they were talking about. Then I decided to just search up "Rex" and wow, I was shocked. A bunch of listings popped up with the name Rex and they all had one thing in common. They were all record store day releases. I'll include a couple pictures below. By this point I knew something fishy was going on. I was waiting in line outside and then the store finally opened and I was let in. Things got worse. By this point a lot of people also caught on that to the fact that something was wrong and they were rightfully upset. The owner was there and it didn't seem like he was taking anyone seriously. The first few people that entered the store grabbed the Olivia Rodrigo/Noah Kahan release from the front. They were clipped up above the register. All of a sudden the owner was saying that they needed to be put back. That they were only there for display purposes, to show that they had the release. There was about 7 hanging up initially and there was no sign or indication that they were just there for display. To my horror he then began to snatch them from people's hands!!! I was mortified. One of the customers that this happened got upset, rightfully so and began to bicker with the owner. I was so overwhelmed, it was just a lot. The owner said that you were supposed to get the Olivia Rodrigo/Noah Kahan release from the register, to just ask and that the person working there would grab one for you. So I waited in line anxiously for my turn. I also picked up a copy of Taylor Swift's new album by this point. I had seen online from other record stores that if you bought a copy of this album it would come with a little printed note with a message from Taylor. It was supposed to be one for one. With the purchase of a single copy of the album you were supposed to be given one of these notes. That didn't happen here though. The owner announced that you would need to buy TWO copies of the album to get one of these notes. Not only is this really scummy as one copy of the album runs you about 55 dollars, but it doesn't make any sense. All the other record stores are following the expectations from Taylor's team but not Penny Lane. At this point though I wasn't really surprised. I paid for my stuff and left. Then as I was leaving I noticed a box behind the counter. What was in it you may ask? A bunch of RSD releases, including the Chappell Roan release and the Sabrina Carpenter. I can only assume these all belonged to that "Rex" person. I'm upset of course but most of all i'm disappointed. It's such a shame, and at this point I don't know if I want to return in the future.
