Kilgore Books is small but contains a variety of books, many of which are gems. I would recommend going to this Denver used bookstore.

This is a remarkable shop, as much an art gallery as a book store. Of course, the store's close association with cartoonist Noah Van Sciver helps. Regardless, this is clearly a special place. It presents visitors with a unique vision, intriguing and appealing.

For a small bookstore, it packs a punch. There are strong selections of used science fiction, general fiction, mysteries, and drama and poetry. (The other sections seem just as good, but I don't know those topics or areas as well...) The collection of hardcovers and trade paperbacks devoted to comics is particularly notable, with many rare and hard-to-find volumes. There's a strong double-shelf of current independent and local comics, along with chapbooks, zines, and other odds and ends.

Please note, however, there are no new mainstream comics here. No hold slots for Wednesday Warriors, not to even mention Marvel Zombies. Book collection, yes – the latest issue of X- Men, no.

The premises may be snug, but the store offers many delights. There are Kilgore mugs and t-shirts and other paraphernalia, showing that the shop has an active cultural presence, or at least a presence with certain parts of our culture. The stretch of 13th Avenue, from Wax Trax to City O' City, is one of Denver's most Bohemian areas. In my opinion, Kilgore Books is best shop of them all.

Kilgore has a great selection, fair pricing, and great trade-in value if you want to offload some books. I’ve found real treasures here. John is a swell guy too. Best bookstore in town, as far as I’m concerned!

This place was awesome. It’s a gem of a hole in the wall bookstore with a cozy vibe and honestly fire selection of books. Really had a super great time exploring here. It’s also right next to a record store so this whole corner is great to explore and shop.
