This had to be one of the best libraries I have seen & been in, in all my travels around the USA. The variety of things provide is outstanding & variety is the spice of life. The children’s section, although I didn’t look through, just glanced at it, was one of the larger selections of reading material I have seen. A wonderful Gentleman by the name of Derek, educated me on all the opportunities the Library provides for learning, creative arts & continued education, which is phenomenal. I looked through a small section of the non-fiction books & let me tell you; if you’re looking to learn all about life, human experience, existence, self-awareness, development, empowerment, courage, health empowerment & more, this library is the place to do it. I could have spent days just going through books. Maybe one day there’ll be something that keeps me near by so I can just sit & read through this wonderful collection of books.

Well done Idaho Falls! Well done!

Mr. Derek also educated me on a joint program they have with a community in Japan & personally, I think that is amazing. Outreach programs are amazing for communities & people, as long as they are properly guided.

I took some pictures of a few books that stood out to me that one day I would love, like I stated above, for a reason to come back & read.

These guys used to be the very best. They were (of course) the only large library around. Still the librarians are so very patient with kids in the library and always helpful if you are struggling to find the right book for a struggling reader. There are great programs for readers. They have a great selection of books. And they don't charge fines. However, they have changed in that in the past books could usually be checked out for 9 weeks. If you failed to renew them during those 9 weeks, it was also ok. Now, a week late and they start calling collections on that book. It means that if you have several kids with cards, you pretty much have to constantly spend time taking books back or on the computer figuring out which account to renew books on. Sort of annoying and can be difficult if you don't live in town and are paying for a card.

I own property in the Idaho Falls City Limits. I pay taxes without an exemption. I do not live in the property but pay the full amount of taxes. The Board for the Idaho Falls library has created a crazy formula that requires me to pay an additional prorated amount for library services if I do not live in the city, which is crazy. I have no home owners exemption so the county takes out taxes on the non exempted full amount and sends a portion of the taxes I pay to the City and then I have to make an additional payment to the library because I fall under a arbitrary amount of taxes paid. They receive a greater amount of money from me, albeit that it is a small amount but greater than the home owner that lives in the City, but require me to pay additional fees. I do not come into the library to get books, Just looking at digital rentals. I do not cause any additional wear and tear on the building but no I am required to pay more becaues I do not actually live in the City Limits.

Love the Idaho Falls Library. Lots of activities for kids to do. The staff there do so good with story time. They make it so interactive for the kids. Tons of books! Lots of quiet spaces to sit and read/do puzzles/chess/checkers etc.

I’ve lived in Utah, Arizona, and Idaho and have always had a public library card. What’s crazy is that the Idaho Falls library is my favorite! It’s not as beautiful as the Provo, Utah library but I love it most. These are the reasons:
I love the IFPL hold system. You can put any number of books, or up to 10 movies per card on hold (even if they’re not already checked out), and a librarian will go get the book for you or when someone returns the item, the library will hold them for you for a week. You don’t even have to go searching for them.
Secondly, there’s no late fees! You can’t check anything else out until you return an item that’s late, but you also don’t have to stress if you can’t get a book to the library on a certain date.
Lastly, they have a great summer reading program for kids! I do wish they’d open a little earlier but it’s my favorite library by far and I’ve been to a lot!!

Great experience with plenty of good old fashioned entertainment for the kids. There's even actual books! 😉💯 There's also a great selection for the adults too! 😊 On a serious note, the Idaho Falls Public Library has a lot to offer. There's not only books, there's also a great computer lab, audiobook rentals and plenty of quiet study areas. I would highly recommend! 👍

They have the largest large print section I’ve ever seen in a library and I really appreciate that as a low vision person.
They also have koi fish 🙂

We have an incredible library here to take advantage of. I've loved it since I was a child, and there have been so many improvements and exciting things happening since then. I recently attended the Book Babies program with my one-year-old and she loved it. She also loves picking out new books and watching the Koi fish. The library has what seems like an endless number of programs and opportunities to enrich our community, and the fact that all of these resources are free is incredible. I've previously participated in the Extreme Book Nerd Challenge and found it to be such a fun and exciting way to encourage reading. I've always encountered friendly librarians here and they have a magnificent selection of books. I hope our community continues to appreciate the great asset that our library is.
