Officer D. Conroy has redeemed my completely awful view of the entire City Police Department today . After calling dispatch 7 times over homeless not letting us sleep the last 3 nights and having a few unknown officers just show up and literally stay 5 minutes and get mad at us for calling over the trespassing homeless on the 3rd Purple Cliff Development on Xrock, Officer Conroy came and actually talked to the residents , the landlord and the homeless about this safety issue and all the sleepless nights we get and showed he cares about our sleep and health and the major issue we are having at Xrock. Instead of declaring marshal law and just doing the officers job for them to maintain our safety and sainty - he actually sat with us by himself and we bounced around some good ideas for solutions ! Finally - I am feeling like there might be some good to come out of his efforts today . I wish every single officer that has responded here could learn from Officer Conroy how to do a great job with policing and being human and understanding about our ongoing safety and mental health issue in our backyard - 500 feet from 50 units full of single moms, elderly , and disabled residents. . I have some hope now . Thank you for putting our families first and helping to be part of the solution.! Your very much appreciated !!! Hopefully he will stay consistent in helping us over here - so far there has been very little consistency .. and nothing but arguments between city and county ! Solutions needs to be the answer here . Egos and politics aside ! Thank you - yes I said it and I meant it ! Thank you Officer Conroy !

Extremely disappointed - 95% of the multiple calls about Xrock and the homeless creating a second purple cliffs were ignored and I was actually scolded by officers for calling them for they call “civil matters “ “sheriffs issue not city “ when in deed it all falls on the root problem of Durango PD pointing fingers when they should have been doing their jobs and getting the homeless off of Xrock - sheriff and county may own that land - however it is indeed the responsibility of officers and code enforcement to trespass or remove or ticket homeless camping nonstop . Sheriff cannot do they jobs of clean up without Durango PD doing their parts of the job. This matter is getting worse not better and winter is coming and there indeed a second purple cliffs being created near XRock trailhead . There is even a newborn baby in a tent and men with machetes up there not far from CDOT building. In my opinion - the entire department needs to go to police academy and we need a new police chief . This department really has shown zero care about anything and I would t trust them to do anything for me at this point - I have not just this issue but ALOT of issues personally involving several officers with my own family problems . Maybe this needs to be in the news to get anything accomplished here and cleaned up before we tax payers and city and county have to pay millions again for cleanup .

I was visiting this city for the first time everyone was kind overall, but the actual officers were the most unkind ,unprofessional I have encountered. Was gonna park and was told not to park there by officer apparently he wanted that parking for himself at least know how to park if you are that eager to get that spot. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Hey Durango! Just fyi your tax dollars are being wasted on cops who have nothing better to do than harass innocent travelers. Not surprised, that’s pretty on-brand for this tourist trap grifter town. Sorry for coming here and spending my money in your town. It won’t happen again!

Extremely disappointed. They really let us and the community down . For reasons unknown , they refuse to even listen to us about a very costly crime committed against us from an area business. Now they re- victimize us because we are trying to warn the community as to prevent future victims. , It really seems like they are protecting the thieves, and they want to silence us It’s been cra- cra.
