Had two straw hats fitted up for fiance and myself, will be back ASAP for some fitted felt hats. The owner and his wife were awesome to work with and helped my fiance pick out the perfect straw hat after she has had a hard time finding the right one on her own. The straw hats are awesome quality the variety of bands/beads to fit up are great as well. Straw hats can be fitted up on the spot, the felt hats take 6+ months and start at $400. If you want a custom felt hat, it will be helpful to have a reference pic or idea of what style you'd like before going in.

We ordered a custom hat for my husband's unique head, and it's absolutely perfect! When you order a hat, the owner makes a template of your head. You pick your color, style, and felt (rabbit or beaver). There are many options on display to help you decide. You place a deposit of 50% and then go home to fantasize about it for the next 4-6 months (these hats are popular and handmade just for you, so be patient). When it is done, you come back for a fitting. Smitty makes any adjustments needed to make the hat perfectly fit your funky noggin. While he's putting on the finishing touches, take a look at the Western-style hat bands to find one you like. There's tooled leather, braided leather, horsehair, and beaded hat bands, all of which come directly from the artists in Wyoming or Arizona.

We picked up the hat on a pretty windy and cold day, and it stayed solidly in place and was nice and warm to wear.

Bonuses: You can get your name or a message embossed inside. Smitty includes lifetime maintenance on your hat. There's the sweetest, calmest Corgi hanging out, waiting for you to rub her belly.

Update: The hat got stolen one day, so we ordered another. Smitty kept his notes from the original fitting, including adjustments, and shipped a perfect clone of the first hat to us. The quality of the service is impeccable.

I ordered my Cowboy Hat at SASS Cowboy Winter Range in Phoenix Arizona. It was the last week of February and Smitty told me it’ll take about 6 months. He gave me the fast version of the process of making my hat from 100% Beaver. This came highly recommended for the very hot and extremely humid summer days in Florida.
When I received my hat it had wooden frame inside the box handmade by Smitty to keep from causing any damage during the shipping process. That’s truly impressive by the craftsman’s concern for protecting my hat. What I found inside was a highly quality and very impressive Cowboy Hat! I am more than happy with my new hat!
