Mediocre business, overall, and some locations are better than the others. The Canton tellers are more professional and helpful than the West Roxbury ones.

COBCU's app and website are a DISASTER, as is their customer service line. Do they actually have any phone reps? Because in the 3-years I've been with them, the phone line has only been answered ONCE. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Then, we need to schlep all the way to a branch to do something that should've taken only a few seconds to do, online. It's all glitchy and horrible.Truly frustrating. I would not be banking with them if I didn't have an auto loan to pay off. (I will say that the rate on that was fantastic.)

Another frustrating experience is one is unable to pay a loan with them directly from another bank; you need to open a savings account with COBCU, send money to that which takes several business days to process, and then transfer the payment from savings to the loan. OR go into the bank and pay. (WTF kind of antiquated process is all of THAT?)

I also have an account with METRO CREDIT UNION. They've been fantastic. Far more modernized an experience. The telkers in West Roxbury are very attentive and professional. If I were you, I'd go with Metro over COBCU, based solely on customer service and their online services working correctly. They actually have a customer service line...that is answered...and by wonderful reps.

P.S. The hold music on the COBCU phone line, that never gets answered, is an aural assault. It's rage-inspiring and loud af. 🤪 It doesn't even tell you that they're closed, or have a "thank you for holding" message, either...the irritating music just plays and plays and plays...

One of the cons of dealing with a credit union is being limited on the amount of cash you can withdraw at a teller window at any given time. With the City of Boston Credit Union the limit is $5,000 per day. Last year, I needed to withdraw $8,000 for the funeral home handling my father's services. According to everyone in the branch that day, there were no exceptions. Guess what? Learned today that it's at the discretion of the bank manager. Absolutely disgusting that we were forced to borrow money to afford his services because we were told we could NOT withdraw cash from our own account. Now that I know this, I can't wait to withdraw all my money and close my accounts with them. Unless you can't afford big bank fees, I'd recommend doing business with a bigger bank. This was the final straw for me. Don't get me started on the awful service I receive every time I'm in there.

I had Boston credit union bank for a little over 2 years. NEVER had an issue/attitude or bad customer service from ANYONE until a couple of days ago. My husband and I were treated like kids by this woman (manager) named Love. She treated us like we were bagging her personally for money. Never gave us a smile, never greeted us and NEVER made sure we felt like one of their clients. My husband and I are two hard working young adults that are trying to continue pushing through the economic hardship we went through last year with me loosing my job due to health complications with my 2nd pregnancy. Working on our credit, our goals and future for our kids. It’s not fair that someone cannot treat their customers right. The ones that keep the banks running, when there’s tons of people looking for a job on her position that can surely give an AWESOME customer service. Sadly we saw another incident with another customer and her while we were waiting. Many blessings for her!!

I've been apart of the City of Boston credit union for eight Yrs. Overall my experience has been good, However I recently went into the West Roxbury branch and was treated awful by the Bank Manager by the name of love and She did it in the presence of my Daughter.

AWFUL ATTITUDE! Why on earth should i trust you with my money if you don't even want to be at you own job! SO NASTY! The teller at the first desk with short light brown hair is so rude. She constantly has her "next teller please" sign up (there are never any tellers) and will sit there on her phone! Dont dare ask for a pen during her paid hours of social media scrolling.. she'll roll her eyes and scoff at you! maybe if someone there would answer the phone I wouldn't need to come in person.

I had a few unresolved issues. Such as a wire that never came through, I was too responsive to end up with no results, the person in charge never even called me back to follow up, anything, confirm deny acceptance of received money. It was almost like it was his first time receiving a wire. It was unprofessional and I had to transfer money via other difficult ways..

Tellers make you fill out all the info on deposit slip, where as other banks tellers will gladly do this for you. Even at the drive up window. (Id rather not carry my full account number on my persons)

I'm never given smiles, it seems like torture to transact my anything...

Getting locked out of your account is torture... But finally one lady stepped up and completed my issues thoroughly and directly - Shannon at Main office?!

Im going to stay, but ugh...

Came in on a friday afternoon and stood for a moment. I was told by the manager to have a seat and someone would be with me shortly. I sat for 20 minutes without any help. 2 reps went to lunch. The branch manager, Love Mahoney could have helped me but chose not to. When I got up to leave, the member rep finally decided to walk to the front. I just wanted to get a new debit card. Worst service I have ever experienced. Grateful my main bank is a different credit union.
