What a gem of a bookstore!! Such a wide variety of options in all genres with an impressive gift and kids section. My daughter and I visited while passing through and found it so difficult to not buy all the things! We loved the second hand section in the back too. One of the owners was so helpful with local recommendations as well and was so kind. Definitely will return (with more room in our suitcase next time)!

Here in Hamilton we are quite blessed to have such a quaint and delightful bookstore named Chapter One right downtown. Like the very same of the store, Chapter One in a book starts a new adventure, invites you in and allows you to step into different worlds. Nonfiction, fiction, children's books and interactive kits, calendars, how-to books, greeting cards, even used books which readers can recycle for others to read. Poetry, Native American, coffee table books and my favorite---Montana authors. You can find my books there, too (The Road Between Two Skies and Finding the Grain), because they support local authors as well. Preorder your books or order a book you wished you'd gotten when it was first released. Staff is helpful and knowledgeable, willing to take time to help you find that special book. They also host events, listed on their website. Go on, open that door and step into Chapter One.

This bookstore is a foundation stone of Hamilton. It has a quaint, friendly, and relaxed atmosphere. A place I have visited since I was small and now love to share with my own children. When I traveled around the country I would always get excited when I would find one of my old books with a Chapter One bookmark in between it's pages and have to go and share with my husband who, also, frequented this special place. I hope others take the time to check this place out and make a bookmark of it in their own lives and memories.
