We had an amazing time and I cannot say enough great things about this property and the staff. This was a very special weekend for us as my fiance and I got engaged, and the staff here were absolute gems.||||They were able to make so many special things happen for us, and so much of it was at the last minute! They were super communicative and made sure we were taken care of in all aspects!||||I'd like to give a special shoutout and huge thank you to Jason, Andy, Kimberly, Silke, and Tanya, who worked so quickly behind the scenes and made everything happen before we even arrived at the resort. ||||While we were there, we had such wonderful interactions with Paul, Sofia (thanks for helping me solidify the proposal spot), Eema, Diana, Amanda, Justin, Ishmael, and Salvador on the ranch! I hope you all see this, and I'm deeply sorry if there is somebody that I missed. Seriously, you are all so appreciated and we will definitely be coming back!||||As far as the property goes, I highly recommend staying here whether as a couple, retreat, or with family. They have something for everyone and we really enjoyed that it's a different vibe than your typical luxury resort. The animals are fun, and it's such a large property that you can have a great time walking around and exploring the grounds. ||||We were only there for a couple of nights and didn't really get a chance to participate in the daily activities, but we had an amazing dinner at the Valley Kitchen Restaurant on our last night there, and we both loved the food! Shoutout to Ishmael and Justin for being wonderful servers during dinner and breakfast!||||Overall, we had a great stay and have no problem recommending staying here to anyone looking!||||-Matt and Madison

Super relaxing trip, the grounds were awesome and the amenities were fantastic. The food was ok, but there are so many great restaurants in Carmel it didn’t even matter! The coffee at the market was perfect. We recommend their local honey in your latte. ||||Every staff person is incredibly friendly and we will be back for sure. ||||John, the director of tennis, was f** awesome and my backhand feels like Federer’s. 100% recommend a lesson from him, and to play the golf course. It’s living art.

The lodge is huge with a high ceiling.
The bathroom is large, and the only downside is the bed. It's too soft. It killed my back other than that the food at the restaurant was awesome! Breakfast was great! The restaurant staff were very nice but the front desk was a bit cold. No smiles & a warm welcome. In any business, that is the most important aspect.... guests feeling welcome. The golf course was great! The scenery & the mountain view is not like LA. The grass was like fine carpet & you can't can't go wrong but it's little too expensive. No ice in the cooler, no water & no towels for $195 per person.

Compared with overpriced Ventana, I think
this is a way better choice. All the staffs are super friendly and devote their time to bring the best vibe to customers. Our family visited during Xmas and it was the most festive Xmas I have ever had: Xmas tree, Santa, caroling. Would love to spend my Xmas time regularly with them in the long run.

stayed 3 days for a company event. Room is clean and comfortable. There are different levels/distance of trails for hiking and with nice views too. Had fun at the "meet the goats" activity. Good location to visit Carmel & Monterey, will consider staying for future personal vacation.

What an awesome place! Service and staff were the most friendly people! They kept our entire group happy, not wanting for anything! Brought us extra beds and towels, even later at night! Rooms are so nice, like your own 1 bedroom apartment. Pool and hot tubs are open all night as well! Highly recommended!

Awesome resort hotel located near the central California coast with great services. My family went for a wedding in October 2024. Beautiful scenery with lots of activities.

⚠️ However be careful when booking this property since there is another upscale Hyatt property nearby called Hyatt Carmel Highlands which looks similar to this hotel but is a completely different property in a different location. It can be easy to confuse this resort hotel with that hotel.

Picture this, you’re on your anniversary trip at the Carmel Valley Ranch and the power goes out during a storm in the middle of the first night of your stay: does Carmel Valley Ranch have control over the outage? Absolutely not. But does the resort have control over the way they handle a situation that is out of their control? Absolutely. Carmel Valley Ranch handled this one incredibly poorly (with the exception of Diana at the front desk and Alexis at the Lodge Restaurant - they were both fantastic and I believe it was only Alexis’ second day on the job).

We received no communication whatsoever about the outage, despite the fact that we had no power in our rooms or the hallways or any of the facilities besides the lobby and lodge areas. With temperatures teetering in the low 40s at night, our room was freezing without heat and hot water. There were no flash lights or candles provided to guests to make the situation safer or a little more bearable.

We then received a call in the late morning saying that our afternoon spa appointments were cancelled due to lack of power but that we could book new times the following day at no extra charge…..why would there be an extra charge when they were the ones who cancelled the appointments? They also mentioned that the power would likely not be restored by the following day so these appointments would probably be cancelled anyway.

Given that the entirety of the resort was shut down and the already minimal amount of daylight was waning, we made the difficult decision to leave early and drive the 3 hours back home instead of braving another cold night.

When we called the front desk to request a refund, the lady on the phone said “we are extending guests the courtesy of waiving a cancellation fee if they decide to leave early.” Again, why would I have to pay a cancellation fee when the entire resort was shut down without power? I finally spoke with Diana who was one of the few who actually displayed customer service skills and empathy for our situation. Thank you, Diana!

What a disappointing experience given how excited we were for the trip. We will not be back to the Carmel Valley Ranch.
