Very disappointed with this store for many reasons. The employees are disrespectful to guests/customers in the store. When the owner is confronted all she does is defend the store employees. It is inappropriate to treat people differently due to their race. Unfortunately, this store finds that to be acceptable and excuses it. Needless to say myself, my family members and anyone I know will no longer be frequenting or purchasing anything from the store. This store definitely profiles people. Beware!

Biracial people can be racist too, FYI!

I had an incredibly disappointing experience at this bookstore. The staff openly criticized customers who browse and read books before buying them, which is both rude and unprofessional. It’s frustrating when a store treats potential buyers with disdain rather than respect. I won’t be returning to a place that belittles its customers for simply trying to make informed choices.

Brilliant. Love that the staff has an entire shelf of recommendations and all are happy to chat about them as well as talk about books in general. Much as I like Amazon and how it's revolutionized how we can get books from anywhere in the world about anything, it's much easier to discover books in an environment like this. They even order books from Waterstones in the UK just because they prefer the covers sometimes!

Came in with my family on Saturday while we were on vacation. I am a long life reader and so are my adult children. We love to support local book stores when we travel. We walked in and two ladies behind the counter did not greet us. My son and my four year old grandson walked right pass the counter to the children’s section. The clerks did not say a word. We are all looking around not a “ Can I help you? Nothing! Mind you we know we don’t look like the people drinking all the fancy wines with fancy clothes on. We all had shorts, tank tops and lots of tattoos. It was very much a-parent that we were being snubbed and profiled. We were the only ones in the store

I said very loudly several times how good the store smelled, thinking one of the clerks would say “ Oh that’s this candle or this room spray” nope nothing. I picked up a book I wanted to buy but put it down thinking I’m not buying a darn here. I rounded up my family. As we were walking out I looked at the clerks, said “ Thank you for coming in. You shouldn’t judge a book by its cover since you run a book store” Got to our vacation home and ordered the book I wanted on amazon. Terrible way to treat people

Ani was incredible! She guided our book choices and knew so much about literature. What a terrific employee and representative of the store and community. Shopping at this store is a million times better than Amazon 😉

I live in LA but every time I come to visit my mom up in Murphys, I come here and always leave with at least 1 book. I love the way that the books are curated and the owner always has a ton of great mysteries and thrillers (my fave). She is so willing to spend time with customers to help them find the right thing. I feel like every time I pick up a book in any section she can tell me not only about the book but about the author and other books they've written. I wish this was here when I was growing up!

I love this bookstore! Kirsten, the Owner, is very friendly and kind. I have a difficult time making it into the store but with one quick email and she will let me know what she has in stock or can order for us. She is down to earth and very accommodating.
