Usually a very pleasant experience, but the cashier was not listening to what we needed which was large flake shavings. Instead it was fine shavings. The large flake was right next to it so I
Went inside to pay the difference and the cashier said it was the same stuff which it wasn’t so I just got a refund for the order. We can buy it next week at Tractor Supply for $2.00 less per bag.
The cashier was JBills. She never smiled and seemed like she would rather not be there. The guy in the yard was very pleasant though.

BEWARE! ANTI-MASK MANDATE AT BIG R STORES. I came in to buy crampons on the evening of 1/12/25 and went straight to the restroom to relieve myself before shopping. I was wearing a buff over my nose and mouth to protect myself and others as I have not yet been able to afford a Covid or Flu vaccine, this winter. I was followed and came out of the bathroom to a store manager insisting that I pull my mask down because the store has had a "large amount of theft" recently. I explained that was an issue because I needed to protect myself, for the reasons mentioned. They did not stand off, so I said if they could help me find crampons I could get out of there quicker. Funny enough, the store manager said "Tampons?!" (I guess I mumbled or she needed to read lips) and proceeded to interrupt me with laughter before I again said "Cramp-Ons", to which she replied she didn't know what those were...in a Colorado town accustomed to ice and snow, mind you. I got the feeling I was just being scapegoated/discriminated against because they can't maintain their merchandise security without sharing diseases or enforcing their fringe political beliefs on their property. I guess they are making america great again in their own minds...Big R has regretfully lost any future support from my business. That was heartbreaking.

EDIT 01/22/25: The 'owner' that is replying to reviews appears to be a company bot, as I have yet to receive any confirmation (or denial) that I can enter the Cañon City store with a mask, for my own protection. It seems, they respond about same to every negative complaint, no matter how serious. How despicable and careless...

Great selection of things we need and use. We came in for one thing and ended up buying several other things! Big R has a great selection of products, clothing, boots, shoes, firearms and animal feeds and products. Our cashier was a just wonderful happy and super helpful blond woman. She recommended the bacon covered with chocolate and jalapeno for a snack. It was delicious. Wish we bought some more. They usually have the grain we use. If not they are able to order for us!

I have been a regular shopper at Big R in Canon City for some time. I really like the store. I've had great experiences until yesterday. I purchased a Can Cooler that was marked fits 12oz cans on clearance. When I got home and attempted to slide a 12oz coke can into it, it didn't fit. I attempted to return it to the store, spoke to a manager "code 3" and they were combative and said that's why they are on clearance and not returnable. It's only 5 bucks. It's not about the money. Why would you knowingly sell a product that will not work as advertised? At least mark the display that they don't fit normal cans.

These folks are very confused on gun laws in Colorado. Tried to order an AR Lower with pistol brace. Got a call from Joe telling me he was returning it to the company I bought from and that he wouldn't conduct the transfer. He initially claimed that it was against Colorado law (It's not). Then Joe claimed it was at the Supreme Court (It's not). Then claimed it was a corporate policy. When I asked him where he got that information he refused to answer. Called a different FFL and it will be shipped to them...... Do not buy firearms from a company that clearly has no idea what they are doing when it comes to firearms 🙁
