Rooms are older, but very well-maintained and clean. It was winter and I arrived late, but the outdoor drive-in movie screens add something special to the ambience. Motivates me now to visit just for the sole purpose of watching a drive-in movie again.

I went in the winter months, so received a much lower rate, but didn't get to enjoy the Movie Magic feature. Had a king room, #101. This is motel style with entry from the outside. The key feature in the room is a panoramic window that, when curtains are opened, give you views of the drive in movies screens, complete with adjustable speakers in the room.

The rooms are designed on one of two levels, in a crescent shape to accentuate views. When booking you can select a movie view room to get the full experience.

The finishings are a bit dated, but in good repair. Had some difficulty accessing outlets, and no USB ports in room.

Stayed here for the Monta Vista Sandhill Crane Festival. Though the hotel is older the rooms are nice and clean. The included breakfast was well appointed. The service was good. It was a great little place in Monta Vista.

We specifically stayed here for the novelty of watching the drive in from our hotel room. We were not disappointed. A waitress and my friend both said the sound quality was bad, but we were in Room 207 - Tom Cruise - (best room according to hotel clerk) and the sound was perfect. 207 is a king room with a connecting 206. The room was spacious with a table and two chairs, desk, microwave/fridge/dresser, and a shelf in the open closet to put suitcases. ||The breakfast was your run of the mill free hotel breakfast. But had a good variety from biscuits and gravy, egg of some sort, meat, waffles, cereal, fruit, toast, etc. Everything we had was good. ||The faults I found…there was popcorn on the window sill and in the microwave from the guest before. I expect a clean room. The wallpaper near the door was peeling and there was black behind it which I wasn’t sure if it was just the wall or mold. The room is not sound proof as we could hear Room 206 tv during the movie and the alarm clock at 6am which was followed by the tv full blast. The tv was on top of the dress/microwave/fridge area and faced the opposite wall. I realize it is because the main attraction is the movie screen, but having it mounted would be nice so you can watch from the bed easier. Also it should be a rule that if you aren’t watching the movie to keep your blinds closed. 206 had their lights on and it was distracting as it was reflecting into ours during the movie. ||Overall the stay was great, staff that we interacted with was pleasant and helpful, and watching a big screen from your room was fun.

The hotel is really cool. The fact that you can watch a drive-in movie is so fun! It was quiet and clean. The rooms are a little outdated. Which is fine. The beds were comfy, but somehow, there were a lot of mosquitos in my room. It just needs a little update, and it will be perfect.

Comfy beds, very clean rooms, and one of the most unique hotels I've been to. The drive in movie viewed from your room was so fun! Breakfast was hot and good in the morning. Beautiful mountain views from both sides of the property too.

My wife had never seen an actual drive in movie, so we booked a trip for our anniversary. Hotel only works as a novelty as the property is a little rundown. I am not sure they could do a lot with the property though, as it looks to be at the end of its life cycle. We combined the hotel with a day trip to the Great Sand Dunes as well. You can actually see the movie from your bed as advertised. They also have a basic breakfast included. The Mexican restaurant in the parking lot is actually decent.

Wanted to love the uniqueness of this property - drive in movie c'mon! but the condition of the room especially the bathroom was awful. Mold everywhere. Ceiling, tub, fixtures. etc.
Tried to do laundry and only discovered the entire dryer drum was covered in ink stains after we had washed our clothes. Had to drip dry in the room because we didn't want stained items. Breakfast was basic but overflowing trash cans was unappetizing. Looks like this budget hotel is definitely on a budget and it shows (
