Every staff member has been extremely busy and so helpful. It is a family run business where everything is available. Freshly cooked food, fresh drinks, bait, and tackle, gas. You need it, they probably have it.

all around best bait shop i've ever been too, great people, great advice and great selection of bait. now for the gas station part ... great service, and to be honest, they have the best burgers i've ever had! i'm always greeted with a smile and a warm hello

A little pricey but this is a convenience store and the bait they have here is the best around. Worms are as lively as fresh dug worms, minnows and crickets are hardy as well. My advice is get your supplies at Wal-Mart and stop here before the lake for your live bait.

Love this place!!!! Been going there since I was a little boy!! Good hot food, well stocked shelf’s, all the live bait and fishing tackle you would ever need can be found here, staff is very friendly, I always stop in to look around and buy a few things when I’m in the area.

The people are very friendly and informative about whats going in the area regarding fishing at the bait shop. I like Bobby garland jigs for crappie fishing and they probably have just about every one you can think of. Also, they are always well stocked on the goldfish, trot line minnows, and rice slicks for those of you who love to flathead fish like me.

Bates' is the 2nd best place to go if you something going on in town or about a local person or nearby place. The first being Linda's Grocery. But could and eventually will bump into someone you know at Bates. If you don't then ask someone else there where the are. They'll help you find them. Great insight to local fishing. One stop shopping, fresh hot food, bait and tackle, friendly folks, free air, opens early.
