Backcountry Experience is an awesome locally-owned store with gear for outdoor enthusiasts. I recently had a great experience with their after-sales support when I asked the team about a warranty issue. BCE's Ben got an excellent response from the equipment maker. The guy in charge of rentals was rude. Wouldn’t rent anything out to me, even though I’ve been in the back country plenty. He said it was too bony. I went to a different shop, they were incredibly kind, and got me all set up with the appropriate gear. Conditions were fine, and I had an excellent time with the gear they rented to me.
Go somewhere else.

We've had incredible customer service at this store. The folks behind the counter are the same people you see at the nordic ski areas, at Purgatory, and at the climbing gym. They know their stuff, and it's a pleasure going into the store knowing they will understand the gear. This store also has surprisingly competitive prices (with online sellers), and, during their semi-annual gear sales when they are transitioning from or into snow season, their deals are outstanding. Highly recommend a trip here.
