It is a sheltered platform. Nothing fancy. You have to take a bus to get to Winter Park.

Covered platform with a bench and overhead heaters for winter. Pretty flowers in summer. Good photo op with Fraser sign and mountains in view. You can walk to Crooked Creek Saloon. We even walked with luggage to Holiday Inn Express.

Its not widely known but the Amtrak building east of the platform is open 24-7. There is a small heated lounge with seats and bathrooms. 'Tis a more comfortable space to hang out during inclement weather.

Im a railfan, I didn't go on the train. But an Amtrak I saw had a nice staff. They seemed OK with me filming the train on the station platform, and one of the cars had an open door and I didn't even say hi, and then an Amtrak person did. I waved back. It is a good spot, since it is a straight track and you can see the train for a while, which goes you time to set up your camera. Winter park is still good, but there is a No Train Horn zone there. The resort is good since they blow their horn there. You will see Amtrak, Union pacific, and BNSF.

Catch the California Zephyr here to Denver or Glenwood Springs. Or parts beyond.

One can easily walk to the free town bus system stop. Take it to the ski resort or around Winter Park and Fraser. The schedule is on the RideHop app. Type in 'lift'.

The old and the new Ski Train parks on the siding here. It hangs out until time to go back to the resort and pick people up.

The train is out-dated, no doubt, but the views from Denver to here are spectacular. And the crew was consistently friendly, far more so than an airline crew.
