Due to a large outlay of funds to finance a rather extravagant revenge plot (involving a trained falcon, five hundred chocolate pies, and a Chevy Malibu) against my nemesis, Chester Blinking, I was a little light in the ledgers, with my financial advisors ordering me, in overly stentorian tones, to lay low on expenditures. So, it was with relief I discovered Phoenix Books, a true-blue rascal of a used book store: a labyrinth of book shelves, thousands of works covering every subject imaginable, and affordable pricing. I picked up a book on tantric practices and a few Dickens novels and my day was quite made.

Called ahead and was told there were several of the books I wanted there...drove and found parking, once in the store there were none, the desk person slowly came over to the rack and said. I guess there isn't any and slowly walked away. No apology or explanation

Stopped through on a trip and I love, love LOVE this kind of bookshop. Stacks upon stacks of treasure to sort through. Prices were reasonable. We didn't have a ton of interaction with the staff personally, but I heard him telling someone else about good places to go and how to get there, which was great to hear.

The sheer amount of content packed within this (relatively) small space is astounding. I wouldn't say it is the most efficient or well maintained bookstore on earth, but I genuinely like the eclectic character of Phoenix Books. I imagine bookstores on Diagon Alley would have a similar vibe. If you love books, and love getting a bargain on books, by all means visit Phoenix!
