I've been coming to this place for YEARS and it's absolutely one of my favorite stores ever! My brain goes endorphin overload shopping here!
It makes coming to the city a treat!

EVERYTHING you could want: stickers, papers, notebooks, custom pens, fountain and ink, markers, pencils, pens, bags, toys, keychains, even specialty stuff that's hard to find in the states! Great deals, great rewards system too!

Very cramped but so beautifully organized and filled to the brim with awesome stuff! Some pens are even cheaper here than Daiso!

It’s a very nice and cool store BUT the prices are insane and completely unjust… some items were marked up two times their amazon price… additionally the person who checked us out was rude and provided us with misinformation about one of the ink refills.. this wasn’t that big of a deal since a stationary store does not need to be personable but this along with the prices made it hard for me to give a higher rating. Still worth checking out imo just not the best spot.

Maido is my number-one destination for fountain pen inks and Japanese art & writing tools! Many times I've found items that otherwise are only available in Japan. They have a surprisingly huge selection of stationary, fine writing tools, art supplies and fun gifts and toys fit into their well-organized and relatively tiny space. They are directly across from the big Kinokuniya Bookstore on the second floor.

CUTEST stationery shop in Japantown! Also - they support a lot of small business brands / artists in the store so many of the stationery items are one of a kind 🙂

As a small business owner myself, I love seeing this type of support for brands. Maido is a little small (and it gets crowded quickly) but you’ll never be short of cute stationery items here.

FYI - you do have to consume all your drinks before stepping inside the store / or leave it at the entrance before you go in! So I recommend going before you grab anything to eat/drink.

There is also an upstairs Maido with more notebooks/calligraphy pens/etc. the downstairs location is more focused on stickers, washi, stuffed animals, etc.

Excellent quality stationery items, many of which are imported from Japan, at very reasonable prices. The store is small, so you won't feel overwhelmed, well organized and tidy. A must visit if you are in Nihonmachi. Yasukute, kirei desu ne!

Incredibly patient and helpful staff. I was able to add a second sailor to my pen case. They also answered a food related question and it resulted in me having the best ramen ever
