Wish I could give 0 stars. Very unprofessional management. Martin doesnt know how to run this business and doesnt pay his employees for the work they've done..He'll ignore you instead of being a MAN and let you know what's going on with your check you are owed. Highly recommend just getting news from the local news station. This paper company is a scam, dont even know how they are still in business.

Continued billing after subscription cancellation requested.

More detail... Disclamer: not a lawyer, but the laws i refer to here are found in HB 21-1239, 6-1-732.
I did a six month signup to get access to a specific article with the intent to cancel after six months. You know, when those required-by-law emails are sent before an automatic renewal ?
No such email was sent.
After noticing a monthly charge, i logged in and hit "cancel subscription" and it pops up a fake error message and gives me a phone number to call. I opt to send them a message via the customer service portal thingy, because laryngitis. A couple days go by, my subscription dashboard is nerfed, and i go on my way. No confirmation but also no subscription, or so it seems.
Next month: Another charge hits the bank, and my subscription dashboard is back to normal. I call in and they keep telling me they don't have record of my email (convenient) and that i should have called, because that's what Terms & Services requires.
Issues:
* T&S says you may "contact customer service" at any time to cancel; "Customer Service" subheading includes the aforementioned portal i used to submit the cancellation request email. Nowhere does T&S imply that i need to call.
* HB 21-1239 lists email as an acceptable form of communication for cancellation requests, among other things. Except, notably, phone calls.
* Non lawyer brainstorming: Their acceptable cancellation methods are in direct conflict with the law ? Only accepting something that isn't listed in the HB, and failing to accept any that are listed. The "cancel now" link is "broken", i suspect it is purely there as a ruse/placeholder to appear compliant. And my email, well... didn't happen, according to CS.
* Again, the pre-renewal emails didn't happen.

Quality service is non-existent at this local newspaper. It has without a doubt gone downhill over time. If you care about your town, your paper, your subscribers, and your jobs....then keep your business local! Horrible service in every way, overpriced, and unreliable home delivery. Do better Pueblo Chieftain.

I really miss not getting the newspaper anymore, but I got SO FED UP with them raising the price EVERY new billing period. Also, I think $28.00 For a yard sale ad for two days is too high. I only wanted to list date and time only. I did not want to list everything I wanted to get rid of.

Absolutely the worst company!! Let’s see, we haven’t gotten our paper delivered now for 4 days out of the month and last month 3 days, but they want to charge us for a full month! It’s amazing how fast a company can go down hill after being taken over by such a big business like Gatehouse Media. You are dragging this business into the ground!!!

10/3/2021 i wonder if anyone is paying attention to the disma excuse of a "news paper" that Pueblo has. Since it was bought out, the news stories are 3 or more days old, and some events that are being publicized have ended. In addition there are many stories that have no real relevance to our community. Then there is the constant delivery issues. I do not hold the delivery person responsible I believe the parent company has not given the local office the tools and technology necessary to keep things running. Sadly with the current handling of the local paper it may be best for the Chieftain to fail and another, local group could fill the void.
Friendly office people, but a very disappointing news paper since it was sold to a Texas media company. They cover more state news and very little Pueblo news. There is better pueblo news coverage in the Colorado Springs Gazette and on TV.

There is little local news and delivery of the paper is sporadic, NOT receiving it more than actually receiving it. If it does happen to show up, it's not until mid-morning. My elderly mother has been a subscriber for over 60 years and they're pushing everyone to the digital edition. She, along with many others, is not computer literate and just being denied the little bit of local news because of her age and being scammed of the outrageous subscription fee because the paper is seldom delivered when it's supposed to be. SHAME ON THE CHIEFTAIN AND ITS OWNERS USA TODAY AND GANNETT.

Has anyone tried to call to speak to anyone except the Circulation Dept? It doesn't exist. All you get is "foreigners" who can barely speak English. The Chieftain is not Pueblo friendly - I'm sure their subscription numbers show bad numbers. Not making your phone number available to the residents of Pueblo is not business oriented/friendly. I will never subscribe! 😏
