My first 14 tiner today and I am still loving every single minute of it. This was really a great ride up and down for somebody like me... Scared of heights. Once up there... The view made me appreciate the chance of a life time. Thanks for the memories... I love it.
Suggestions: It's cold (even in hot weather) up there... Bring a coat and wear good hiking shoes. Drink plenty of water, because of the altitude change.

You will be at 14000 elevation and you can feel the cold at all the time. Make sure prepare well to visit with all you cold weather gear. You will nice view while driving running clouds on mountain. Careful while driving and all wheel drive or 4by4 recommended mostly. You will have most memorable place to visit and locations.

Beautiful views all around if you get good weather, I recommend being at the bottom gate when they open at 8am. Make sure to book your space online in advance. You’ll need a hood 4-5hrs just to drive up/down and time for walking around and up to the top of mnt. Evans. Highly recommend!

Wonderful place. We are heading back to hike round trip from Summit Lake to the highest peak of Mt Evans and back later this summer.

this is one of those places that locals know about, but not many visit because it's a "tourist attraction," and let me just say, they're missing out on this amazing gem!

tips:
- BOOK YOUR RESERVATIONS!!

it's easily done online and if you don't have it, you could miss your chance to visit. it was only $15 per vehicle, and we watched several vehicles be turned around at the entrance because they didn't reserve their time. for good reasons, they only allow so many vehicles at a time in 2 hour slots.

- give yourself at least a total of 3 hours to get to and from the location!
you will spend at least 2 hours there, the other hour is spent just getting to and from the park. you can easily spend more time at the park because each turn has another spectacular view and you'll probably want to stop for a picture. also, you just might find some wildlife blocking the road, which happened to us twice.

- bring sun screen! even on a cloudy day, our skin got a bit red for being just a little closer to the sun.

- the air is thin here! at the top I would get a little light headed at times, so there wasn't much physical exertion from us. if you're not use to this thin air, take your time, stop when you feel lightheaded, and most importantly -

STAY HYDRATED!

that said, make sure you bring more water than you think you'll need.
"it's better to have it and not need it than to not have it and need it."
water and warm clothes - just bring it.

- time stops here, and it's over before you know it.
everyone knows you're there for the views. take your time and see everything. if someone wants to pass you, let them go. you paid to see this, so take the time and see it because there's not enough time to explore it all.

my heart aches because I already want to go back. seriously, the beautiful views can bring tears and the tears are more now that we're back home.

So amazingly beautiful. It's a "bucket list" type of event getting there. I rode my motorcycle, but I'm sure a car's ride would still be spectacular. I'll remember this day for my entire life.
