This was my first time going on a hike. I specifically picked this location for my first hike because a friend recommended that it wouldn't be so difficult. I think the trail is 1.5 miles up and 1.5 miles down. It's either a 2 or 3 mile round trip. The most difficult incline was maybe a 4 out of 10. It was still snow on the ground when I went so that was definitely different and kind of difficult if you're not use to walking on snow. Once I made it to the top, I was so ecstatic. It was worth everything I imagined.

Beautiful hike up a well maintained trail to a unique waterfall feature and aqua colored blue pond/lake. Reservations required to park and hike, and costs $12 per person. The trail itself, while not technical or particularly difficult, is essentially 1200 feet of elevation up nicely placed rocks that form a natural staircase. The waterfall and pond were beautiful.

The trail is very well kept and had been designed very well. We were happy to see clean bathrooms when we entered past the parking attendant. Remember, you have to have a reservation to hike here. You have a 15 min before and after grace period to enter.

The hike starts off next to the river on a completely concrete path. Once you get to the trail it's mostly stepping stones and rocky paths. The last 50 feet is large steps and if you physically can't get your knees to chest height you won't be able to get up all the way.

It's a short hike but large steps can make you out of breath so be sure to take breaks, bring lots of water (there is a water fountain in the bathroom where you can fill up before), and the correct gear for yourself (rain jackets, hat, hiking poles can help a bunch too!)

At the top it's important to follow the rules. No entering or touching the water to preserve its biome. No flying drones, no dogs allowed, no walking across the fallen logs in the pond.

You can walk an extra 200 yards past the initial falls to get to to bigger waterfall. If you are afraid of grasshoppers this hike may be your worst nightmare but they don't jump at you at all!

Enjoy your hike, be safe, and be prepared! All in all it took is about 3 hours round trip with about 40 mins to take pictures.

They have lots of picnic benches when you complete the hike down so be sure to enjoy some well deserved food!

I absolutely LOVE this hike and can't wait to go back. The incline is consistent the whole way through, and the trail itself is wide enough at various parts to stop and take a breath if needed without blocking others' progress. There are multiple bridges, benches, and natural sitting opportunities throughout the hike. A hiking stick or sticks are recommended for grips if you have balance issues. I would recommend the early hike for 95% shade and cooler temperatures for the hike during the summer months. Don't miss out on the rest area about 3 miles down the road for picnics and/or a good rest before or after your hike. The reconstruction of the trail didn't hinder the beauty of the area. I look forward to seeing the finished project.

This hike was definitely hard but very worth it. The waterfall was so beautiful. Worth every sweat. The hike is an uphill battle, rock step and mud along every step of the way! Definitely want to go with hiking gear and alot of water! Overall it took us 4 hours to and from.

Photos definitely do not do justice to this place. Absolutely stunning lake on top and the walk behind the spouting rock waterfall was amazing - totally worth the slog uphill. Took us 4 hrs carrying a toddler - 2 to climb, an hour up at the lake and another hour to climb down. But we made a lot of stops and took our time, if you are decently fit you can do it in under 3 hours. It was a very interesting hike alongside streams and smaller waterfalls with most parts of the trail being shaded. Not suitable for anyone with mobility or joint issues. Highly recommend carrying hiking poles, wearing suitable hiking shoes and lots of water, snacks to stay hydrated. Restrooms are only at the start of the trailhead!

As beautiful as the destination is, I might enjoy the hike up and back just as much. There's been a lot of changes over the last 40+ years, the nature setting remains pretty satisfying and enjoyable..
